Morgan Township Middle/High School recently hosted the annual College and Career Day for all three East Porter County School Corporation high schools—Morgan, Kouts, and Washington Township. The event brought together juniors and seniors from across the district to explore post-graduation opportunities and connect with representatives from more than 20 colleges and universities, multiple skilled trade organizations, and every branch of the United States military. The day served as an exciting and informative opportunity for students to begin charting their futures beyond high school.
Throughout the event, students engaged directly with recruiters and admissions representatives, asking questions, learning about academic programs, and discovering potential career paths. To help guide these conversations, participants were provided with a list of sample questions designed to encourage meaningful dialogue and fact-finding. From learning about scholarship options and campus life to understanding program requirements and application processes, students were able to gather valuable information tailored to their individual interests and goals.
In addition to one-on-one discussions, students were encouraged to collect business cards, brochures, and informational fact sheets from each booth. These materials allowed them to take home a wealth of resources for future reference as they continue to make decisions about their college or career plans. The interactive format of the event gave students a firsthand look at the many paths available after graduation—whether pursuing higher education, entering the workforce, or serving in the military.
The College and Career Day exemplified East Porter’s ongoing commitment to preparing students for success beyond high school. By providing direct access to professionals and institutions, the event empowered students to take an active role in shaping their futures. As the day concluded, students left with not only a clearer understanding of their options but also the confidence to pursue their next steps with purpose and direction.
