On February 27, 2025, Morgan's senior class officially launched their service-based learning projects, meeting with mentors for the first time to begin planning their initiatives.
The service learning project empowers our 12th-grade students to identify and address real-world challenges within their communities. Through this hands-on experience, students will not only apply their academic knowledge but also develop crucial skills in leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving.
In addition to building academic skills and passion for service, this project satisfies the employability skills requirement for the Indiana high school diploma pathways.
Students will be working on the project in groups of 4-5 for the next 10 weeks, during which time each group will be supported by a mentor from our community. Our mentors come from diverse professional backgrounds, bringing expertise and passion to guide students in their service projects.
Now in its second year, the program has already connected 102 students with 21 dedicated mentors, strengthening community ties and real-world learning.
Thanks goes to Deb Good and Rotary International for helping with mentor recruitment for this year's class.
We invite you to celebrate our students' hard work at the culminating exhibition, held in conjunction with the High School Art Show and Elementary STEAM Fest. Visit the Media Center on May 1st from 5:00-7:00 p.m. to see their inspiring projects in action!
