The Lady Cherokee 7th Grade Girls Basketball Team beat River Forest last night in their first game of the year 26-6. The entire team played amazing team defense holding them to just 6 points with all 13 girls on the team getting on the stat sheet in one way or another. They were led by Shaina Otey with 8 pts and Jackie Drozd with 4 points and 10 rebounds. The Cherokee Award for the first game goes to Maya Odom, with her 8 pts, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. She played an amazing game on both ends of the court!! The Morgan 6th grade girls basketball team claimed victory in their first ever game on Monday, defeating South Central by a score of 25-11. Lily Pearman led the Lady Cherokees in scoring, with Brynn Hefner and Emma Friday adding to the team total. Morgan looks to extend their solid start on Wednesday when they travel south to play Kouts. This is bound to be the biggest event to happen in Kouts since that castle-looking gas station was built. Come out and support your Lady Cherokees! |
